Turning One

The day before his birthday, Tallis threw up and had a slight fever, so we ended up having a pretty low-key celebration. We had wanted to take him to the zoo with a little friend his age and his parents, but since the nurse warned that he might be contagious, we called that off. He was feeling better within a few hours, but we didn’t want to take chances.

Instead, we had Grandpa Larsen and Mely over for dinner on August 2.

We picnicked outside and had barbecued ribs and had homemade baked beans and fruit salad – yum!

Cake was simple cupcakes, which Tallis wouldn’t eat. (He has since grown into more of a sweet tooth!) Since there was a slight breeze and the flame wouldn’t stay lit, we had to photograph the candle inside the RV!

Presents were a lot of fun, especially the unwrapping part.

From Aunt Joyce and Great Grandma Larsen:

We even got to start him his own saving account from Aunt Barb!

A few gifts came belatedly, including a super-cool fire truck from Grandma and Grandpa Hess (in memory of our wildfire adventure!) and a musical lion with balls and a hammer from Grandpa Larsen and Mely.

After our casual little party, we took Grandpa and Mely up to Glen Alps to show them our new digs. We got a good shot of Grandpa and Tallis together.

Happy birthday little man! You’re growing up so well.
